Two beautifully designed cabins, 150 metres apart, with a private stretch of river between them. Walk or kayak from one to the other, come together when you want to, then retreat to your own space.
It’s a rare combination — enough room for up to 11 people to holiday together, without having to live on top of each other.
Booking both cabins offers exclusive use of Ripples Retreat — set on our farm in Piopio, Waitomo
Together — but with space.
Cascade has two bedrooms and sleeps up to six, while River Song sleeps up to five.
Guests are often surprised by how much there is to discover here — caves, waterfalls, wild west coast beaches, extraordinary landscapes and great local food, without the crowds.
It rivals the South Island for stunning scenery and adventures but- its warmer.
The thing we hear most? “We wish we'd booked longer.”

River Song sleeps 5: king four-poster, double nook and single daybed. We make up the daybed for the fifth River Song guest, who is the 11th guest when both cabins are booked.

Cascade sleeps 6: Separate king bedroom and two double beds in the loft— up to 11 guests in total
Each cabin has its own peaceful riverside setting, unique interior and complete privacy, separated from the other by trees, landscaped berms and farm land.
Whether you’re soaking in the outdoor bath or sipping coffee on the deck, you’ll have the entire retreat to yourself. And when you’re ready to reconnect, the other cabin is just a relaxed stroll or gentle paddle down the river.
